Transparency from the start
The Casino Project is undergoing review through Yukon’s highest level of environmental and socio-economic oversight: the YESAB Panel Review.
This process ensures the Project is evaluated with transparency, backed by science, and that public input is considered before construction begins.
What is the YESAB
Panel Review?
The YESAB Panel Review is a detailed, multi-year evaluation of a major project’s potential effects on:
- Land and water
- Wildlife and fish
- First Nations’ rights and traditional territories
- Local and regional communities
- Health, safety, and economic conditions
The Panel Review includes extensive public participation and technical analysis.
What Casino
must submit
As part of this process, Casino Mining is preparing a full Environmental and Socio-Economic Effects (ESE) Statement, which includes detailed studies on:
- Environmental impacts and mitigation
- Tailings and water management designs
- Traditional Knowledge and Indigenous consultation
- Socio-cultural impacts and mitigations
- Employment and economic opportunities
- Closure and reclamation planning
What happens after submission?
Once the ESE Statement is submitted:
- YESAB reviews the document to ensure it meets requirements
- A Panel is appointed to lead the review
- The Panel conducts a technical analysis
- If more information is needed, the Panel asks for it
- Public hearings are held
- The Panel issues a Panel Report and Recommendations
- Decision Bodies review the report
- A final Decision Document is issued

Who are the
decision bodies?
The group includes:
- Government of Yukon
- Government of Canada
- Selkirk First Nation
- Little Salmon/Carmacks First Nation
Once all Decision Bodies issue their final Decision Document, Casino Mining can proceed to apply for:
- A Quartz Mining Licence (Government of Yukon)
- A Water Use Licence (Yukon Water Board)
- Various other permits and licences
